Prolonged exposure to moisture can be devastating to steel and the following photos from a recent site inspection at a beach community in New Jersey say just that.

Over time, repeated exposure to water infiltration has caused significant damage and deterioration to main structural members that if left unchecked, would eventually lead to structural failure and possibly collapse.

To remediate these issues, a two part approach is required.  First, stop the water infiltration and second, make repairs to the structural members by removing the damaged sections and welding new sound materials in place to restore the structural integrity of the system.
