Maintenance is a crucial aspect of any building's upkeep, and this applies to parking structures as well. Enter Local Law 126, a recent addition to our local regulations.

But what exactly does Local Law 126 entail?

It mandates that parking structure owners arrange inspections every 6 years and promptly report the findings to the Department of Buildings (DOB). The primary goal is to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future. These inspections commenced on January 1, 2022.

However, it's important to note that not just anyone can conduct these inspections. Only a Qualified Parking Structures Inspector (QPSI) is authorized to perform them and file the necessary reports. Failure to comply with these requirements, including late or non-filing, carries significant penalties.

To avoid any issues, it's advisable to address this matter promptly and adhere to the designated timelines.
