Bridgewater

Mechanical Engineer


Immediate opening for a Mechanical Engineer with HVAC design experience in fast growing MEP and Energy Department in multidisciplinary, multi-state engineering firm. Immediate opening at our Bridgewater, NJ office with work assignments in New Jersey, New York City, and D.C. Metro area. Frequent travel to our New York City office and occasional travel to our offices in Philadelphia and Rockville, Maryland will be required to support mechanical related projects. This role requires an experienced Mechanical Engineer with in-depth knowledge of mechanical systems, including applicable building codes and industry standards. Self-starter with the ability to set and achieve goals with minimum supervision. Future growth opportunities, throughout department and regional offices.

Responsibilities:

- Visiting project sites to analyze and document existing mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, and electrical conditions.
- Mechanical HVAC equipment selections.
- Boiler plant design.
- Chiller plant design.
- Ductwork sizing and layout.
- Pumping and piping system design and layout.
- Air conditioning and heating load calculations.
- Preparation of design and construction documents.
- Project construction administration and observation services.
- Cost estimate preparation.
- Specification writing.
- Technical writing.
- Proposal writing.
- Client interaction.

The Mechanical Engineer will report to the MEP/Energy Department. Daily tasks will include design of mechanical HVAC systems, conducting field surveys, system assessments and reports, creation of design and construction documents with the assistance of the CAD department, schematics, HVAC equipment selections, air conditioning and heating load calculations, system riser diagrams, and specification documents.

Candidate must have:

- BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering is preferred.
- 10 years’ minimum experience in MEP consulting and design engineering services environment or minimum five years’ consulting experience with Professional Engineer’s license.
- Understanding of building architectural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
- Familiarity with New Jersey and New York City building codes – IBC, IMC, IECC, IFGC, IPC, NFPA, ASHRAE 90.1, and NEC.
- Experience performing computer generated HVAC load calculations using Carrier HAP or Trane Trace.
- Commercial and Residential Project Experience.
- Ability to perform calculations, equipment selections, equipment specifications, system design, system layout.
- In-depth knowledge of AutoCAD (version 2014 or better), MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook.
- Excellent verbal and writing skills.
- Ability to interact with clients and contractors.

Job Responsibilities:

- Facilitates timely distribution of word processing, editing, proofing, and production of proposals, reports, and other documents for delivery to clients.
- Scans and saves electronic files as necessary.
- Monitors mailed, faxed, emailed or overnighted correspondence.
- Manages timely maintenance and input of all E-filing and hard filing.
- Aids in administrative team responsibilities.
- Exercises considerable judgement and discretion in handling requests from inbound calls.
- Performs general clerical duties including but not limited to filing, photocopying, faxing, and mailing.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

Job Requirements:

OVERVIEW: Immediate opening for a Registered Architect with The Falcon Group, based out of our Rockville, MD office location. We are a rapidly expanding company seeking local team members who are pursuing career positions and growth opportunities

REQUIREMENTS

- 5+ years experience in building inspection, design, and consulting work for existing building structures.
- Experience in residential construction required.
- An active Maryland, District of Columbia, and Virginia State Architecture Registration required.
- Excellent communication and report writing skills required.

- Managerial/ Leadership skills preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS

- Residential multifamily construction, existing building renovations / assessments, repair.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

- Perform site visits to observe, document, measure, collect, verify, and analyze existing conditions.
- Fully understand and participate with the building and site assessment, reporting, design process, customer requirements, and performance standards.
- Prepare reports with observations, findings and opinions; prepare and present cost estimates and performance standards; prepare construction specifications documents and repair protocols; prepare status reports, inspection reports and monitor budgets and schedules.
- Collaborate with other architects, other engineers, project managers and administrative staff to delegate the responsibilities for the project.
- Have heavy involvement in residential multi-family / community / existing buildings and consulting, with emerging sectors in commercial, educational, institutional construction industries.
- Utilize organizational skills in order to keep accurate records and electronic data of all projects / phases.
- Successfully organize and document workflow to create / maintain a streamlined and effective process for completing the projects by deadlines and staying within budgets.
- Oversee progress at project sites, resolve potential issues, and meet with clients.
