  • Senior Level Structural / Civil Engineer - Miami, FL

    Overview

    Immediate opening for a Structural/ Civil Engineer with The Falcon Group, one of USA’s premier consulting engineering companies for a senior level position in the fast-growing Miami office. Join vibrant, fast-paced and diverse work space and be exposed to different aspects of Engineering, Architecture and Construction. Be involved with various assignments throughout south Florida including inspections, reports, construction administration, project management and design.

    Job Responsibilities:

    - Works directly under the Department Head
    - Management/ Project Management skills
    - Perform site visits to observe, document, collect, verify, and analyze existing structural/civil conditions
    - Prepare reports with observations, findings and opinions
    - Prepare construction specifications documents and repair protocols
    - Review drawings, plans and specifications
    - Design various structural/civil details and plans
    - Interact with Clients to present findings and provide updates
    - Ability to attend meeting with clients, and represent the company
    - Keep timely and accurate time log

    Job Requirements:

    - BS degree in Structural/Civil Engineering (MS is a plus)
    - 10+ years of experience
    - P.E. License required
    - Restoration/ Forensics Experience
    - Excellent verbal and writing skills
    - Ability to work as part of the team and in a dynamic environment
    - Knowledge of Florida Building Code, ACI, ASTM, etc.

    Ability to:

    - Work outside
    - Walk for extended period of time
    - Work on suspended scaffolding on the exterior of the building high above ground (secured and protected)
    - Work on construction sites

    Job Responsibilities:

    You will be exposed to many workings of an Architectural/Engineering firm. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, drafting plans and details for the Architectural and Engineering departments, on‐site inspection assistance of existing building structures, inspection assistance with site renovation work and/or building renovation work. On‐site inspection assistance is for the purpose of collecting data and documentation, taking photographs and securing measurements for reports and renderings, and verifying existing site conditions. Inspections may include checking the existing construction methods and materials against the original design plans, documents and applicable codes. Substantial Auto CAD assistance including mark‐ups / redlining.

    Projects may include composing material boards; submit or pick up plans to/from local building departments; review building department plan responses; verify status of building permits. Standard office assistance may also be required, as responsibilities may be modified or reallocated depending upon the active projects in place.

    Projects may also include design input, assisting with coordination of work with the local teams, remote teams, engineers, consultants, building officials, and clients; assistance to the senior team with: site analysis, design development, and technical specifications.

    Requirements:

    - Very strong Auto CAD skills are necessary.
    - Strong Sketch‐Up, Photoshop and MS Office skills required.
    - Strong verbal and written communication skills of the English language is necessary.
    - Ability to perform code searches and general searches.
    - Ability to perform basic calculations and basic analysis.
    - Ability to multi‐task and meet deadlines.
