  • Full Time Electrical Design Engineer / Electrical Designer Mid-Senior Level (Miami, Florida)

    Immediate opening for a Mid-Senior Level Electrical Design Engineer / Electrical Designer in a fast growing MEP and Energy department in a multidisciplinary, multi-state engineering firm.

    Immediate opening at Miami office with work assignments throughout the South Florida area. Gain design and career experience while stepping into a key role, working directly with mentors to gain experience in field inspections, project management, and electrical engineering.

    Responsibilities:

    - Visiting project sites to analyze existing conditions, and/or oversee construction.
    - Understanding the NEC, IEEE, NFPA-101, and other related standards.
    - Perform load, voltage drop, and short circuit calculations, equipment selection, equipment specification, systems design, systems layout.
    - Sizing and routing conduit, cable, cable trays, circuit breakers, and low and medium voltage systems (e.g., power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and phone / data / other special systems).
    - Ensuring that all documents and designs are coordinated with all trades, and meet project criteria, and Quality Assurance Program.
    - Performing lighting design tasks, including calculations, fixture layouts, selection, specification, and scheduling of light fixtures.

    The Electrical Design Engineer will design electrical systems for multi-family, commercial, and government type projects. He/She will be responsible for the design and engineering of Electrical systems including load analysis, power distribution, lighting design, circuiting,

    Daily tasks will include conducting field surveys, system assessments, and creation of CAD drawings, schematics, construction documents, equipment selection, load calculations, system riser diagrams, and specification documents.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    - Electrical system design experience related to the building construction industry.
    - Minimum of 7-years’ experience in MEP consulting and design engineering environment. Field Construction experience is a plus.
    - Commercial or Industrial Project Experience.
    - Project Management Experience (Preferred)
    - BS Degree in Electrical Engineering (Preferred).
    - Engineer in Training (EIT) status with goal of acquiring P.E. license is a plus.
    - Ability to perform calculations, equipment selection, equipment specification, systems layout & design.
    - Knowledge of commercial and residential electrical design and inspections.
    - In-depth knowledge of AutoCAD (version 2014 or better), MS Word, and MS Excel.
    - Experience in conducting 40/50-year electrical inspections, and reporting.

    Responsibilities:

    - Visiting project sites to analyze and document existing mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection systems conditions.
    - Understanding the Florida Building Codes, and various applicable NFPA Standards.
    - Strong Mechanical HVAC design Experience.
    - Knowledge of Plumbing and Fire Sprinkler Design is a plus.
    - Project construction administration and observation, and preparation of reports.
    - Selecting and specifying mechanical, plumbing, and fire suppression equipment.

    The Mechanical Engineer will report to the MEP/Energy Department. Daily tasks will include conducting field surveys, system assessments and reports, load & Energy calculations, and Comprehensive HVAC Design, creation of CAD drawings with the assistance of the CAD department, schematics, construction documents, HVAC equipment selections, plumbing design, including systems riser diagrams, equipment selections, and specification documents.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    - BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering is preferred.
    - Minimum of 7 years’ experience in MEP consulting and design engineering environment.
    - Understanding of building architectural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
    - Familiarity with Florida Building Codes, and applicable NFPA standards.
    - Experience in performing computer generated HVAC load calculations using Carrier HAP, Trane Trace, or Elite CHVAC & Equipment selections.
    - Experienced in “EnergyGauge USA”, and “EneryGauge Summit” software.
    - Commercial and Residential Project Experience.
    - Engineer in Training (EIT) status with goal of obtaining P.E. preferred or at least 10 years’ HVAC design experience.
    - Ability to perform ductwork layout and sizing, equipment selections, schedules and specifications.

    Job Responsibilities:
